In the city of Alreign, Caine Fisher is just a normal guy living his life—or at least, he's trying to. However, ever since discovering that he has magic, that's become rather hard, especially when he finds himself tangled up with the rebel group trying to save their city from an oppressive reign.
But with walls surrounding them and nowhere to run, what else can Caine do but join in the fight?
Setting and Magic
The city of Alreign was once part of the great Kothiera civilization. However, hundreds of years ago, the city was closed off from the rest of the world, trapped within a wall spelled to hide them.
Now, the citizens live as best they can in this coastal desert. The nobles and higher class live lavish lives and enjoy what little wonders they have within their confines, while the middle and lower class work hard to make ends meet. While magic is rare, typically, the nobles are the ones to control it.
But it's said that even those in the lower classes can, every now and then, develop magic. And since every ability's different, that leaves the future open for endless possibilities.
The Renegade Nightshades
Caine Kyle Fisher

Caine’s just a working class guy who’s tired and pessimistic. But truth is, he’s not as normal as he wants to be, ‘cause he recently discovered he can use magic. And when he gets wrapped up with the rebels fighting to change the oppressive rule over their city, he has a choice to help them with his powers or resign himself to the dark plans their king has in store.
Caine’s an artist, and his ability Vibrant World is based on colors. He starts out with his blue power unlocked—which lets him paint water in the air.
Gabrielle "Gabby" Melka May
Age: 12

Birthday: March 30
Ability: Spotlight of Hope
Though young, Gabby joined the rebels after her parents were killed by the government. Instead of seeking revenge, though, she hopes to be a hero one day—starting with saving her older sister, who she believes is still in the government’s clutches.
Gabby’s passion is acting, and her ability lets her create illusions. She’s also skilled with the daggers she keeps nicely hidden in her boots.
Dustin
Age: 21

Birthday: December 25
Ability: Cat's Cradle
Dustin's the leader of the rebel group. Skilled with a sword, Dustin’s not one to be trifled with. But luckily, he has an amicable personality and quickly takes a liking to Caine.
Dustin loves sewing and fashion design, so he’s the one who makes the outfits the main characters wear.
Lexi
Age: 21
Pronouns: She/her
Birthday: February 11
Ability: Unknown
Lexi is the second-in-command of the rebels and a long time friend of Dustin’s. She often comes up with the plans for the group. She knows all too well the danger they're in and is often the rock that keeps them on track.
Lexi's a make-up artist, and her ability allows two people of her choice to see through each other's eyes for a certain amount of time.
Nan Fisher
Age: 16
Pronouns: She/her
Birthday: September 24
Ability: None
Nan enjoys exercising and moving her body, especially pushing her limits with gymnastics and martial arts, though formal training is hard to come by. Still, she learned some when she was little along with a friend—the very friend Nan received her extendable staff from.
Even though Nan lost contact with that friend ages ago, she still writes letters to her that she knows will never reach.
Aldric Rafael Higgins
Age: 12

Birthday: August 23
Ability: None
Ever since Aldric's dad was killed by unknown rebels, his grandfather’s been harder on him to prepare him to take the throne one day. However, that day doesn’t seem to be coming any time soon with how healthy his grandfather is.
Though those in his family before him have all unlocked magic during their early childhood, Aldric has yet to figure out what he can do... or if he can use magic at all. For now, he enjoys playing piano and practicing with his rapier.
Heba Khalid Saad

Ability: Picture Perfect
Heba’s a girl from the slums who Caine meets when he’s looking for a healer. Her ability Picture Perfect lets her restore anything she’s seen before to a previous state—though the more of a difference it is, the more it takes out of her, and some things are beyond her ability with how difficult they are to fix.
Heba loves photography and talking to people. She and Caine become friends pretty fast, and she likes teasing the others in a friendly way.
Dorothy Ellen Braeden
Age: 15

Birthday: July 15
Ability: None
Dorothy is a mysterious girl who has ties with the government and Project Rhose.
She has a very active imagination and dreams of her own fantasy worlds—worlds that she'd love to one day write down.
